As a proud Hull business, we take every opportunity we can to get involved with everything going on in the city and we’re spoilt for choice at this time of year. In this blog, we share our ideas for what you should pop on your to-do list in the run up to Christmas.
#1 Head to the Christmas lights switch on Thursday 14th November
Take a trip into the town centre to go to the family-friendly Christmas light switch on. See the return of the 50ft Christmas tree, take in the incredible firework display and enjoy street theatre performances and more. More information about the Christmas light switch on.
#2 Enjoy an ultimate hot chocolate from White Rabbit Chocolatiers
Escape to Paragon Arcade where you’ll find this independent chocolatiers famous for their Ultimate Hot Chocolate - if we described this indulgent treat as incredible, that’d be an understatement. It’s made using their hand-crafted chocolate and is complete with a chocolate spoon on the side. Warm up and enjoy after spending the day Christmas shopping in the centre.
#3 Visit the Festival of Christmas in Beverley on Sunday 8th December
It’s the 24th year of the Beverley Christmas market which has over 120 stalls. Grab a traditional mulled wine, try delicious street food and browse all the stalls to find homemade and local Christmas gifts for your nearest and dearest. Kids can pet reindeer, enjoy pantomime performances, go on Victorian fairground rides and even meet the big man himself in Santa’s grotto. #4 Let it snow! Then head to Beverley Westwood
Whether you enjoy sledding, snowball fights or building a snowman, Beverley Westwood is the place to be when there’s a blanket of snow! A fun family day out that doesn’t cost a penny.
#5 He’s behind you! Head to the pantomime from 11th - 27th December
Hull New Theatre pantomimes are a must-see for families over the festive season. This year Aladdin will be coming to the stage starring Simon Webbe from Blue, Jake Canuso from Benidorm and Actor, Robin Askwith. This magical panto includes amazing special effects and sing-a-longs - expect lots of audience participation! Find out more.
#6 Go for a winter walk
There are so many pretty places to go for a wander in Hull - East Park, the avenues, Melton and Hessle Foreshore to name a few! Why not plan a big family walk to enjoy the scenery then stop off for a drink or two in a pub with a roaring fire?
#7 Plan a cosy night in streaming your favourite films and shows
One of the best places to be in winter is lounging on your sofa in your onesie with a tub of ice cream streaming your favourite films and series.
